Square Enix has pulled back the curtain on the two most mechanically distinct members of the Chrono Trigger cast, unveiling the first prototype images for the FORM-ISM Lucca and Robo figures. The reveal, shared via the company’s official merchandise channel, confirms that the line is moving beyond its initial Chrono and Marle offerings to complete the core time-traveling trio and their faithful robotic companion.
The newly surfaced images highlight a deliberate design philosophy for this series: the figures are sculpted to mirror the iconic standing poses from the original game’s packaging artwork. For Lucca, this means capturing the brilliant inventor’s confident slouch, her signature helmet, and the intricate details of her mechanics-focused outfit. Robo, meanwhile, presents a different challenge entirely, with the prototype showcasing the worn, industrial textures of his chassis and his distinct, endearing silhouette.
This reveal is significant for collectors who have been following the FORM-ISM line since its initial announcement. While Crono and Marle are already available for pre-order with a scheduled September release at 8,800 yen each, the confirmation of Lucca and Robo’s prototypes suggests a full team assembly is on the horizon. The decision to prioritize these two characters the brains of the operation and the heart of the team’s mechanical support demonstrates that Square Enix is aware of the deep affection fans hold for the entire ensemble, not just the silent protagonist and the princess.
For a franchise that has long been dormant in terms of new interactive content, the FORM-ISM line serves as a tangible olive branch to the dedicated community. By faithfully adapting the classic key art into three-dimensional form, these figures offer a nostalgic touchstone. While pricing and release windows for Lucca and Robo remain under wraps, the prototype stage indicates that pre-orders are likely not far off. For now, fans can at least rest assured that the brilliant mind and the gentle robot are receiving the careful sculpting attention they deserve.
